Maggie Grace (born Margaret Grace Denig September 21 1983) is an American actress who is best well-known for her role as Shannon Rutherford on the ABC television show Lost as well as Kim Mills in the Taken trilogy. The couple had separated and she moved with her mom into Los Angeles. However, in 2001, despite finances, she was able to secure her first big role in the online video series Rachel's Room in the role of Rachel's Room's main character. The TV film Murder in Greenwich, in which she portrayed 15-year-old Martha Moxley earned her the nomination for a Young Artist Award. As a member of the Gyllenhaal family, she is the child of filmmakers Stephen Gyllenhaal and Naomi Achs and is the younger sibling of actor Jake Gyllenhaal. Her career began when she was a teenager, playing small parts in a few of the films of her father and starred with her brother in the cult favorite Donnie Darko (2001). The next film she appeared in was Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind which was released in 2002 as well as Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal was praised by critics for both her performances as the lead in Secretary (2002) which is the erotic drama about romance and Sherrybaby (2006). In 2006, she was also nominated by The Golden Globe Award. In 2006, she had a number of commercially successful movies including World Trade Center. However the role she played as Rachel Dawes that brought her more attention with The Dark Knight (2008). She received a nomination as the Best Supporting Actress at the Oscar Awards for her performance of a single mom on screen in Crazy Heart. In the following years, she appeared in comedies and dramas: Nanny McPhee as well as the Big Bang (2010) Hysteria (2011) and The Won't Back Down (2012).
